New Playground Proposed on Stramski Way in Marblehead
Thanks to the Marblehead Family Fund and the Harold and Elizabeth Shattuck Memorial Fund, there will be a new playground on Stramski Way. I don’t recall the last time my kids played on that playground. It is in rough shape. The Parks and Rec Department recently agreed to tear down the old playground once the new playground is designed. The budget for the new playground is $50,000 and it will be designed with a sailing theme. The playground will get heavy use once the new pier is constructed (currently on hold due to appeals by neighbors).
Visit the Marblehead Family Fund website if you would like to donate to the effort.
Dolphin Yacht Club in Marblehead – Great Club, Low Price
If you are looking for an inexpensive yacht club to join in Marblehead, consider The Dolphin. The club is small (maybe 450 members), recently renovated, has a great restaurant and bar and sits right on the harbor. The dues to join are very inexpensive ($450 per year for a social membership which includes a $225 restaurant credit). The kayaking and boating memberships are a good deal as well. For more information about the club, visit www.DolphinYachtClub.com.
Moving to the Area? Consider Joining www.NewcomersandNatives.com
If you are planning a move to Marblehead, Swampscott, or Salem, I suggest that you consider joining Newcomers and Natives (NAN). NAN is a group that organizes numerous social and civic events for its members (book club, dinner club, fundraisers, children’s playgroups, wine club, Easter Egg Hunt, etc…) For $25 (individual)/$35 (couple/family) per year, it is a great deal. The group is a lot of fun and offers members many opportunities throughout the year to get out and meet new friends. Visit www.NewcomersandNatives.com for details.

If you are moving to Marblehead and have a boat or aspire to own one, a few of your first questions may be: How do I apply for a mooring in Marblehead Harbor and how long will I need to wait to get one?
The wait may take 12-15 years. So get on the wait list ASAP. Click here for details on how to apply. The good news is that there is no wait for a mooring in Salem Harbor. Details on Salem Harbor moorings to follow.
